• I cannot access the front page widgets. When I am viewing the widgets and click the dropdown menu (where it currently says ‘Default Settings’) nothing happens. I have mysteriously just lost ALL of my widgets on every page except my home page, and cannot access the home page widget settings to replicate. My website is http://www.desertofziph.ca

    Desperate for help.

  • Hi @timknapp!

Did you recently update a plugin or do any kind of other updating?

Yes. I hadn’t accessed my site for some time and updated about 15 plugins all at once. Is there a way to undo all of those updates?

After the problem started, I also updated to version WordPress 4.8, hoping it would solve my problem. No luck.

Have I just made everything worse?

The bizarre thing is that my home page still has all the widgets operating properly (except the header). I don’t understand why I can’t view these settings.

Usually, when this happens it means there is a bug in one of your plugins. Try going into your plugins page and deactivate only one at a time, then each time check back to your widget page. When/if your widget page displays, you’ll know who the culprit is based on which plugin you deactivated.

Let me know if this helps!

    It worked!!

    Yoast SEO was the culprit.

You’re my new best friend. Thank you so much. Now to rebuild my default widget settings…

    Happy to help!
