Support » Fixing WordPress » Can’t access dashboard : Error 503

  • Resolved Sip

All of a sudden I cannot get access to the dashboard of several WP sites. On one site I am logged in as admin, but cannot logout. I have not made any changes to the software except automatic WP updates.
    I use WP 5.0.3 and W10
    I have removed all plugins,
debug activated does not create error.
I looked at the log of the host: no problem.
If I remove my theme, I get a blank screen
I have cleared all caches and cookies
I have used different computers with WP and Apple OS.
    I have reset all routers.

The WP sites are normal accessible, but wp-admin and login.php result in 503 errors

    Nothing works.

I am running a newspaper on a small island so I need urgent advice. Thanks in advance.

The 503 service unavailable error occurs when your web server is unable to get a proper response from a PHP script. This PHP script could be a WordPress plugin, a theme, or a misbehaving custom code snippet.

If the error is caused by heavy usage, a server glitch, server temporarily offline for maintenance, the server too busy or concurrent request limit exceeded, or a DDoS attack, then it could automatically disappear in a few minutes.

However, if it is caused by bad code on your website, then it will keep occurring unless you find and disable the code that’s causing it.

Thanks for the fast response. However, all WP sites show a normal response time.
There are no PHP errors recorded in the debug file
The latest version of WP is uploaded.
There are is no special code on any of the websites.
    All plugins have been removed.
On one site where a login was active, the dashboard works OK, but if I try to logout, I get the 503 error again.

    Very worrying.

    Problem resolved.
Observation: I could get access to all WP sites, but not to the admin panel. For all other websites I noticed “normal” behavior. The problem occurred on W10, Apple, ipad, etc.
Consequently I suspected software issues somewhere.

I noticed that when logging in at my friends place all worked ok.

    I swapped modem. Problem solved!!!!!!

Unbelievable, now all is back to normal, without any change to any software. No issues with WP, nor the software nor the provider performance.
