    Php version 5.3.2
    WP Version v2.7.1

    For some reason recently i went to log into my wp-admin panel and it's not accepting my password and username.

    I requested a reset and it emailed me a new pw and that's not working either.

    What can i do at this point? My server has the new PHP version so would upgrading work?

    Also, what are the steps to successfully upgrade to the newest WP from what i have now so i won't have any problems?

    Here are manual update instructions that will not require you to login to your wordpress. So long you have the FTP access (to backup and update) to get the MySQL information from wp-config.php to login to phpMyAdmin to back a backup of database.

    Try resetting your user name and password through phpMyAdmin: http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password

    I tried doing that and i still get the same problem. I'll hit login and it will just pop up another login screen and it repeats.

    Hmmm, Can i install a fresh copy of 2.0 and just import my posts and all somehow instead of upgrading?

    1) Backup your database
    2) Install fresh copy of WordPress
    3) Install plugins & themes you had
    4) Import database
    5) Upgrade

    - Backing Up Your Database

    - Restoring Your Database From Backup

    So i can install a fresh copy of 3.0, then import my 2.7 DB and the posts and stuff will be there?

    It will be better to update 2.7 -> 2.8 -> 2.9.2 -> 3.0.1
