Hello,
Thank you for your patience.
Currently, your portfolio page appears to be a standard gallery rather than an archive. Here’s what I see in your code:
https://share.thedevoice.com/shZxnxvdQFwtwn9R2Rgc
To resolve this, please set up your page as an archive by following the configuration guide at: https://www.visualportfolio.com/docs/portfolio-archive/
This should resolve the issue.
Regards,
Alex
Thank you for your response.
I followed the steps you recommended and the issue persists.

To be sure I am communicating clearly, here is the problem:
- The meta titles and meta descriptions on these example pages are identical while the canonical URL is not identical:
- Either the meta title and description must be changed dynamically for each url -OR- the canonical url for each of these pages should all point to: https://allmywebneeds.com/portfolio
- The current configuration tells search engines that each URL is unique and should be considered to have unique content (via the canonical) including a unique meta title and description, but the same exact meta title and description are used on each page – which the search engines then penalize because they are interpreted as duplicate content on multiple pages.
Please take a look and let me know if I am missing anything, but I’ve confirmed the page has been converted to an archive page per the instructions.
P.S. I realized after making the change that it broke all of my individual portfolio items, so any time someone visited https://allmywebneeds.com/portfolio and tried to click on one of the options, it would redirect them back to our home page.
I went back afterward and disabled the Register Portfolio Post Type option, and that made the individual portfolio items load again.

https://allmywebneeds.com/portfolio/website-porterfield-co
https://allmywebneeds.com/portfolio/u-s-dental-surgery-network
https://allmywebneeds.com/portfolio/detail-time

Hello,
Please contact me at https://nk.ticksy.com/
I’ll help investigate why you can’t set the page as an archive. When a page is properly set as an archive, two things happen:
- Canonical links redirect to the main archive page
- URLs become more user-friendly
Regards,
Alex
Excellent! Not sure if it goes straight to you or not, but I just created a support ticket on nk.ticksy.com. Thank you!

Hello,
@kizinko and I solved the problem by switching to the archive: https://www.visualportfolio.com/docs/portfolio-archive/
The portfolio integration works well, especially with categories. After switching the post type to portfolio and updating the layout settings to current query, portfolio items now appear in the archive post.
The links are now clean without parameters, and category canonical headings are unique. The archive page functions correctly. The home page link appearing in the save layout is expected, as the current query automatically updates when placed on specific archive pages. Using the Gutenberg block editor in the portfolio archive page would show immediate results. However, older editors and shortcodes cannot provide this level of visual clarity.
Regards,
Alex
