Support » Plugin: File Upload Types by WPForms » Cannot upload .svg files

I added a new file upload type via your plugin.

    – Description: SVG graphics
    – MIME Type: image/svg+xml
    – Extension: .svg

Still, when trying to upload SVG files, WordPress says: Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.

    Any ideas?

    HI @mondalaci,

Thanks for reaching out. When you get a chance, could you please confirm the MIME Type is correct for the SVG file you’re trying to upload, or possibly share the file here? Here you can check MIME type of the file.

Please note that there’s already an SVG in available types with two MIME types support. So, you can just check this option if that SVG file matches the MIME types offered.

    I hope this helps!

Thanks for the blazingly fast reply!

You can download my SVG file at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1m53gl1q-vl2CR6BtF6Ak2adDS6-8u_NG/view?usp=sharing

SVG wasn’t available in your plugin after its installation by default. SVG is not featured in https://htmlstrip.com/mime-file-type-checker but the image/svg+xml MIME type I specified should be correct. According to your screenshot, application/xml is also a valid MIME type, but I can’t specify multiple MIME types per row in your plugin. How to do it?

    Hi @mondalaci,

Thanks for the file. It looks like the SVG file you shared has the standard image/svg+xml MIME type. I’ve tried uploading that on multiple sites and it gets uploaded successfully. If the SVG file is not listed for you, that is possible because some other plugin filtered the default WordPress allowed files. We exclude the file types that are already allowed by WordPress. Could you please let me know if you have any other related plugins that interfere with MIME types? There was also an issue with WordPress for SVG files way back, please makes sure you’re not running old version of WordPress.

Multiple MIME Types for a single extension can be separated by a comma.

    Thanks!

Hi @mondalaci – We haven’t heard from you in a while, so I’m going to go ahead and mark this ticket resolved. If you still have questions, though, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.
