I am getting the following error when trying to update the plugin to the latest version:

Update Failed: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.

I don’t have a complex website, what level should the permissions be and which permissions are impacting this update?

I never had issues like this before.

    Hi,

Some people have had similar trouble because of Wordfence’s config cache file when trying to update — in your Wordfence options, near the bottom of the page, turn on “Disable config caching” and save the settings, then try to update again.

If it still won’t update, you might need to manually remove the file at:
    wp-content/plugins/wordfence/tmp/configCache.php

Our dev team is working on a permanent fix.
