Cannot Update or Install new plugins

    When I go to update or install new plugins, I’m getting “Cannot create directory” or “PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature”.
    I had folder permission problems the last few days, and seemed to have solved them by correcting all of the paths to 755 for folders and 644 for files, but I’m still having this problem of being unable to update or install plugins. I am also having trouble with contact form 7 sending (failure to send please send message to administrator) which may or may not be associated. I’ve never been able to get contact form 7 to send yet even before these problems. Anybody got any ideas?

    Have you tried uploading unzipped plugins using FTP/ cPanel?

    Yes, just installed and activated and then deactivated a plugin. However, I would still like to upgrade and install new plugins via the admin automatically, and because other’s may be updating these things in the future.

    I’m afraid that this is an issue at your host’s end and has nothing to do with WordPress or wordpress.org.
