# Cannot update EME plugin

 * We are running WordPress 5.4.2 and PHP 7.0. We are using the EME plugin and I
   cannot upgrade it because without upgrading PHP. When I upgrade to PHP 7.2 the
   website will not work. I get the critical error message.
 * If I disable the EME plugin and then upgrade to PHP 7.2 the website works fine
   however the WordPress admin will not load. Instead I get the same critical error
   message.
 * Is there a way to upgrade the plugin via FTP?

 * However, since you say that with or without EME you get “the critical error”,
   it seems you have another problem. You should fix your critical error (which 
   is clearly not an EME problem).
