Yesterday, after uploading an image to my media file on WordPress, I noticed that I could not save any details to the file. The image is saved to the gallery but its details just wouldn’t save. I then decided to update a widget with new information and found out that the widget would not save either. I checked posts and found that I could not save edits, just as I cannot save any changes to the WordPress settings.

I spent this afternoon browsing through Google and the WordPress forums but none of the solutions that I tried worked. I went back through all my files to make sure that the CHMOD was as outlined on here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Hardening_WordPress#File_permissions. If I remember correctly, all of the folders and files were more or less as they should be, and changing the CHMOD made no difference.

I also disabled all of the plugins but that didn’t fix the problem either. Before and after disabling them, I noticed that I could not save settings for them either.

Yesterday, I backed up my website through FTP. I also had an incident where my website kept returning a 500 error that the server tech said was related to bad code in my .htaccess file. I removed the code (that had nothing to do with WordPress–it was for webtree) and my website came back up. Those are the only two things that I did that might have caused me to screw up something.

Since my website is business related, I would really appreciate it if ya’ll might have suggestions about how I can fix this. I would really like to update my site. 🙂

    Thanks!

I finally figured out what the problem was. I disabled the rootspersona plugin because it didn’t serve my needs, but it had already created over 2,000 pages based on an uploaded gedcom. After I got all of those pages deleted, my website resumed functioning correctly.

I’m sorry rootspersona didn’t meet your needs. I am wondering if others are having issues just because of the large number of pages it generates?

I got this fatal error this morning when trying ti import my gedcom file. My file must be too large to upload. Is there a setting that I change or code to add? I am relatively new to WP, so be gentle when giving instructions, LOL.

    Thanks!!

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 24 bytes) in /home1/scrapntw/public_html/heritage/wp-content/plugins/rootspersona/php/Genealogy/Gedcom/Structures/EntityAbstract.php on line 97

Sorry I didn’t see this til 3 months later.

the newer version is better with memory, but the size of your GEDCOM REALLY does matter.

You can increase the memory in php.ini: memory_limit, but there will always be a limit of some sort.
