used BackupWordpress to do backups, placing my latest one in Dropbox. Computer crashed, where the soon to be active website is located. Lost all data, had to format HD and redo (Win7-64bit. Now, when I try to restore the files, I first replace the System Files – “includes, admin and content”, then, when I try to restore db through PHPmyAdmin, I follow the procedure, but it runs for about 30-50 seconds and then I get a “page can’t be displayed” error.
The DB from the backup does not load, what am I missing?
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Russ

It seems like your phpMyAdmin process is timing out. You’ll have to contact your hosting provider about the issue.

it is on a LocalHost not with a Provider

NOT RESOLVED – poor help from developer, spent weeks waiting for a response, went direct to the maker, no real help. Backup/website lost. Live and learn, use something else!

    Hey Russ,

I’m sorry you’ve been having a frustrating experience.

I am actually still awaiting a reply from you from an email I sent you.

As Paul mentioned, phpMyAdmin is timing out, the SQL file is working fine as I was able to import it without any issues.

I’m not sure how you’re hosting your sites locally, but it’s a very broad issue, and somewhat outside the scope of BackUpWordPress.

If you’d like to reply to my email perhaps I can help you with your local hosting environment.

    All the best,
    Owain

As I mentioned, the website was in development and not hosted by anyone, except on my computer, still being made. Lost my Windows 7 install and reformatted HD, then tried to backup the development (website) on my computer and found I could not. Dropbox had a copy of the most recent backup.

    Hey Russ,

I understand you lost your local setup. I know what a pain that can be.

But there’s (more then likely) something wrong with how you’re running your sites locally. Not with BackUpWordPress’s backup.

If you tell me how you’ve setup your server stack locally. Is it an IIS setup? Or are you using a MAMP stack or similar?

    Cheers,
    Owain

I didn’t do anything different from the last installation, it’s through Bitnami WordPress Stack, I’ve tried installing the original plugins, replacing the Contents, Admin and Includes files and then going into phpMyAdmin to update, and, as I provided to you, in previous emails (my attached screenshots), the db times out and the “page not displayed” comes up. I am following directions and coming up with this error, even though the Install of Bitnami WP Stack is clean, the import doesn’t like the Admin/Includes or Content file I’ve replaced and is timing out.
I can provide a link to the Dropbox Backup, if you like–have a look at the Backup

so…you guys haven’t responded in a while, although it was the holidays. Anyway, I have most of the backup, I think, installed, the issues now are: there is lots of wp-postdata in phpmyadmin, but, no WooCommerce products (there were about 1500) and no Pages (about 30+)on the localhost site. I see lots of data, the sql file has not sewn it all together. Any suggestions? or that I may have missed? or anything I could supply for a look-see? thanks

    Hey Russ,

phpMyAdmin timing out is an issue with your phpMyAdmin setup, likely your local server (The Bitnami Stack you mention) either doesn’t have enough memory or is hitting a timeout before phpMyAdmin can finish importing the backup.

There’s plenty of help available through Google on how to work around those issues in phpMyAdmin (e.g. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20264324/how-to-import-1gb-sql-file-to-wamp-phpmyadmin)

Resolving this as it’s not an issue with BWP.
