 * On occasion, I need to replace an ebook with an updated version. I tried replacing
the old EPUB entry in my Media collection with the updated version. However,
the old version of the ebook is still displayed instead of the new one. I selected
the Clear Cache button, but it didn’t fix the issue. As a workaround, I have
to rename the new entry and use the new name in the shortcode. But I don’t understand
why I can’t simply replace the old entry in the Media collection.

 * How do you update the epubs in your media collection? Do you upload a new file
with the same name directly inside your server or do you use some plugin to update
it in the WordPress dashboard? As far as I know, vanilla WordPress doesn’t allow
media files to be directly replaced.

 * I should have added that I deleted the old epub file entry from the Media library,
then I dropped in the new version of the epub file. Using the same filename shows
the old file instead of the updated epub file.
I finally figured out a solution.
I suspected this was a caching issue, but neither the Clear Cache nor Cache/Purge
All buttons fixed the display. I also tried to clear the cache by adding several
question marks to the URL. None of that worked. Then I found out about the hard
refresh triggered by Ctrl-F5. That did the trick. Thanks for getting back to
me so quickly. Let me add that I am a retired GUI programmer. I appreciate a
well-designed graphical interface like this. Very nicely done.
