 * Hello. I am having an issue with the SMTP username and password fields in your
   plugin–in “SMTP Settings”–>”SMTP Options.” For some reason, the username and
   password are automatically populated, with what looks to be my personal Gmail
   account credentials ([screenshot](https://imgur.com/6rlWDBW)). The issue is that
   I cannot seem to remove this information from those fields. Even if I delete
   them, then ‘Save,’ upon refresh, the fields will be re-populated with the same
   information.
 * I have tried nearly every permutation of “Use this settings to send mail,” “Use
   WordPress general settings to send mail,” “Send emails of this plugin via SMTP,”“
   Use the PHP mail() function to send emails,” and “Save Changes.” No matter what
   I do, if “Use this settings to send mail” is enabled, those fields are auto-populated
   with my Google account information.
 * I am using the latest version of the plugin (1.10.7.5).
 * Thanks in advance.

 * [@cag8f](https://wordpress.org/support/users/cag8f/),
 * It seems to be a problem with your browser auto fill forms.
 * Try with another browser.

 * OK I tried with a different browser (IE), and the issue was not present. Can
   we then assume that the issue is localized to Chrome when it is logged in to
   my Google account? If the issue exists only on my devices, then I’m happy with
   that.

 * Yes, really it surely this is not a problem. This is a misunderstood with autofill
   forms of Google Chrome, sometimes they are not easy to understand.
 * Thanks for using this plugin.

 * Hi there, I have EXACTLY the same problem. I tried to change the STMP password
   using Firefox, it did not work. I tried it on Chrome too, and same thing. Could
   not change.

 * [@ashenarayan](https://wordpress.org/support/users/ashenarayan/),
 * As I told before, this seems to be a problem from autofill form in those browsers.
 * Anyway, I have no problems and I use Google Chrome.

 * I didn’t try it, but I believe the fix should lie in clearing all of your form
   data in your browser. In Chrome you can do that by Settings–>Advanced–>Clear
   browsing data. But as I understand, the auto-fill will occur only on my signed
   in devices (e.g. my desktop computer, my laptop, my phone, etc). It will not
   occur on other devices. I am OK with that, so I did not clear my form data.

 * That’s the thing, this computer was recently formatted, hardly any browsing data.
   In fact I JUST installed chrome, not used it at all but just to try logging into
   WP and changing the SMTP password

 * Hi Javiear can you help with this? For me its not a browser issue. Do you have
   any ideas why I cannot change the password?

 * [@ashenarayan](https://wordpress.org/support/users/ashenarayan/),
 * This part of the plugin is no longer manteined and it is going to be deleted
   in next versions.
 * This has no sens to use this SMTP settings when all can use another plugin “specialized
   in SMTP” like this: [https://es.wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/](https://es.wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/)
 * Use WordPress settings and a SMTP plugin to solve the problem.
 * Plugin will remove this part of SMTP soon.
 * Anyway if you deactivate the auto fill form you can use also the current SMTP
   settings of the plugin.

 * Hi Javier,
 * I know you say this feature will be removed soon, and that this issue is related
   to auto fill. But I have an update.
 * I am not sure this is related to auto fill. I say that because yesterday I visited
   a client site, and on one of their computers–a computer I have never used–we
   logged in to WordPress and viewed the “SMTP Options” page. The username and password
   field were still populated with my personal Google account credentials. If the
   issue was due to auto-fill, shouldn’t these fields be blank on this new computer?
   To me, it seems as if your plugin is somehow storing this information, and allowing
   anyone who logs in to WordPress to see it. Perhaps I am misunderstanding something.
 * Thanks.

 * You are misunderstanding.
 * Those data are saved in your Google account (or similar if you are using Firefox)
   and in every browser you have your account logged in it would appear.

 * > Those data are saved in your Google account (or similar if you are using Firefox)
   and in every browser you have your account logged in it would appear.
 * I understand that. But I was using a computer that I had never used before. I
   sat down at the computer, opened Google Chrome, and logged in to WordPress. Then
   I opened an incognito version of Chrome, and logged in to my Google account (
   to retrieve a file). I can’t remember if I then logged out, or kept that open–
   but I definitely logged into my Google account from an incognito Chrome browser.
   I then switched back to the other, already-open Chrome window, and in WordPress,
   opened the “SMTP Options” page. It was at that point that I saw my personal Google
   credentials auto-filled.
 * Thoughts? What if, as a test, I cleared all browser data, including auto-fill
   data? If I then login to WordPress, I should not see those fields auto-filled–
   correct?
