    Hi – i temporarily deactivated w3tc. Afterwards i couldn’t reactivate the plugin. Even purging the browsercache didn’t help. So, i deleted everything and started all over. This happend now several times. What am i doing wrong, or do you have an idea why this is happening?
    regards theo

    Hello @timholz

    I am sorry about the issue you are experiencing and I am happy to assist you with this.
    I’ve tried to replicate this issue on several instances, and every time I temporarily deactivate W3TC, I am able to re-activate it – no problem!

    Can you please share the Server information and If you are using any other caching solutions besides W3 Total Cache?
    Do you have any security plugins or plugins that may block the activation? (try disabling other plugins and see if you are experiencing the same problem and if any of the plugins may be causing the conflict.)

    I hope this helps!

    Thanks!

    Thanks for your attention.

    Hello @timholz

    Thank you for your feedback.
    One note is that you can always make a backup of your current configuration. Just save the /wp-content/w3tc-config/master.php file.
    Can you please check the wp_debug log and see if there are any logs when you try to activate the plugin.
    Also since I am unable to replicate this, are you getting any errors, or the plugin simply stays deactivated?
    Thanks!

    @vmarko Appreciate your message. I had wp_debug turned off. No error.log in wp-content. I checked the data-base wp-options > active_plugins. w3-total-cache.php is present in array. The array in wp-options > wp_force_deactivated_plugins is empty. Do you have any recommendation, what should be present in the database for a plugin to work properly when deactivating? Perhaps some option is missing?
    Thanks – theo

    Hello @timholz

    Thank you for your feedback.
    I’ve tried to replicate this again and was unable to do so. It seems not related to the W3TC as I can see.
    Let me check this more and see what may be causing the problem in certain environments.
    Thanks!

    I made another test on a subdomain. First with «all in one wp security» plugin active. As expected «w3tc» couldn’t be reactivated. Debug.log was empty, so no error was registered. Then i disabled «all in one wp security» and could successfully revive «w3tc». The point with all in one wp security is, that it now also writes directives into wp-config.php.

    // Begin AIOWPSEC Firewall
    if (file_exists('/home/xxx/public_html/sd/aios-bootstrap.php')) {
    	include_once('/home/xxx/public_html/sd/aios-bootstrap.php');
    }

    And these directives impede the reactivation of «w3tc».
    Ok, this issue is resolved.
    «w3tc» is a great plugin.
    Thanks for your care – theo

    @vmarko I tried to update my review, that i posted already years ago. Unfortunately i get 504 Gateway time out. I’ll try later, but anyway you have my 5 stars.
