Go to the plugins section and install one of the anti-spam plugins. One come built in with wordpress, is it turned on?
If you absolutely positively do not want comments, then you could delete the following files from your blog’s main installation directory:
wp-comments-post.php
wp-trackback.php
That will deal with the blind spam hits to your blog.
Thanks to both of you – I enabled the plugin. I had already deleted wp-comments-post.php in the past but it did not help. Now I’ve deleted wp-trackback.php too.
Hopefully it will work this time…

I have done everything listed to cancel comments and there are no links in any of my blogs to post comments but I am still receiving spam comments (even to blogs that have comments off).
How can spammers be sending comments without this being enabled?
How can I prevent this from happening?
Any help would be most appreciated.
