Cannot log in to Theme Customization. (Session Expired)

    I recently took over Admin of a small business website. While I have all relevant passwords and can log in to the site I cannot customize the theme.

    The previous Admin can access this part of the dashboard with no issues but when I attempt it (using multiple browsers, computers, and IPs) I am prompted for a password, my password is accepted, then a few moments later it says ‘Session Expired’

    Can anyone shed some light?
