Several months ago WordPress decided for itself that my username was “Invalid” and would not log me in. Tried posting to the “help” forum and went through complicated process to reset password using phpMyAdmin, even though the password was never the problem. No luck, had to abandon my site and all the work I had done.

So today, started back at the very beginning. Went to WordPress.org, downloaded WordPress as if I’d never done it before, uploaded all the WordPress files to a new, completely different website directory than before, created a new Database and new User with my webhost, entered all the new database, user and host info, new WordPress.com Username and password, and got a page showing a very long block of gobbledy gook jibberish with the word “error” appearing in it a few times, but at the bottom of the page was a “success” confirmation message that I had successfully installed WordPress, (apparently not possib;e to include a screen capture here?).

Sound good so far? I thought so. Clicked the Log In link, was asked to enter the same info (again) that I had just entered for the new site name and user name, password, email address, etc. Clicked the Log In link, was asked to enter the same info (again) that I had just entered for the new site name and user name, password, email address, etc. Clicked the Log In link, was asked to enter the same info (again) that I had just entered for the new site name and user name, password, email address, etc. Clicked the Log In link, was asked to enter the same info (again) that I had just entered for the new site name and user name, password, email address, etc.

    Ad Nauseum.

“Famous 5 minute installation”? This is my third time around over the last several years of unsuccessfully attempting to install WordPress and create a new website.. What’s the issue here, exactly??

Update: I was just ab;e to change the privileges for my new user on the database, but still cannot log in to the brand new account I just created, and each time I post, my topic gets “closed”.

Apparently my brand new password was spontaneously “reset”. I asked it to send me a reset password link and it says the email has been sent, but I’ve not received it.

OK, with help of my webhost tech support I was able to get into phpMyAdmin and verify the info, so am now in.

    Thanks, WordPress.

Not resolved after all. Even though I told WordPress to keep me logged in, I discovered after a few hours that I had ben logged out. Entered the same login info as I had entered a few hours earlier, thinking it would work again and it didn’t. Tried with both Username/password and email addres/password, no luck either way. Clicked on “forgot password”, got the window saying an emailw as being sent w/password reset info but no such email ever came. SPam folder empty. Finally went back to my webhost and looked at phpMyADmin database and to my surprise, the password had spontaneously reset itself to a completely random long string of numbers and letters.

Changed the password from phpMyAdmin, saved it and got the confirmation page showing the new info, tried entering that in ordpress.com, still locked out. Clicked again on “forgot password”, now WordPress tells me there is no such email account associated with any WordPress account.

This is the second time this has happened. Any idea why, or how I can resolve and/or prevent it?
