# Cannot import my WordPress.com blog

 * I have exported my xml file from my WordPress.com blog and tried importing it
   into my new WordPress.org installation.
 * The first time I tried, it timed out on step 2 of the install and showed me nothing
   to continue.
 * So, I tried it again, except now (on step 2), it tells me that all my media files
   already exist. There is no back button, no submit button, nothing to move me 
   farther along in the process of importing…
 * My WordPress.com account is lazykdesigns and my WordPress.org account is lazykcreative
 * I can supply you my login info in a private message or post.

 * I should also add that I am seeing some of my media in my new WordPress.org installation,
   but now all my images are duplicated. I don’t want duplicates!
 * But no posts or pages are appearing…

 * if you followed a tutorial like [this one](http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-properly-move-your-blog-from-wordpress-com-to-wordpress-org/)
   it should be pretty automatic. it may be worth tryign the import again with a
   fresh wp on wordpress.org

 * You would think bernbe01. 🙂
 * According to that tutorial, I get as far as Step 3…selecting my xml file, uploading
   it, selecting admin for posts and choosing the checkbox that also says import
   media.
 * Then nothing…
 * Just a blank page that says Import WordPress with no way to continue. And none
   of my site imported over.
 * My file is 4.1 MB, but it says my maximum size is 256 MB, so I don’t see how 
   that’s the problem.

   apply to you?
 * i’m guessing it does as 4.1mb for the xml file is substanstial

 * Bernbe01 my host ended up helping me through it.
 * Apparently it’s a glitch with WordPress’s import function.
 * But thank you for the help! If you hadn’t found the documentation about it timing
   out, I never would have contacted my host and we would have never figured it 
   out together.
