Cannot import events from google calendar

I went through the tutorial and tried importing a google calendar using ical however every time I try it imports 0 results. I select all the options (as that’s the way I want it) yet get nothing.
I tried another public calendar just for the heck of it and couldnt import anything either. Whats up?
