• I’m new to WordPress. I now know that my home page is a blog and that it is not listed in my Page menu. (That took a while to figure out.) But what I cannot figure out is how to return to this “front blog page” once I start navigating around the rest of my website.

Currently I have three pages that appear at the top of my website. When I first logon, I see the unnamed Blog page. When I click on one of the other pages, the website of course goes to that page. But then I cannot figure out how to get to the “home” blog page. The only way I can do it is to log off of the site, and restart the browser. Surely there is a way to navigate between the home blog page and other pages of the website without having to close the browser and restart. Can anyone unlock the mystery for me? Thanks.

  • Can you give more details or your website url?

here is my website: [Link redacted]

When you first open it, you will see a blog entry called “This is test blog post 1.” If after that you click on one of the three pages at the top: “Why this Site?”, “My Journal” or “About”, you will go to that particular page. (All are just shells right now.)

At that point, I cannot figure out how to get back to the blog page that shows “This is test blog post 1.”

You need to post on WordPress.com’s forums: http://forums.wordpress.com

I thought I was doing that. Can you explain where I did post? And should I repost everything to the address you provided? I already had one response, so I’m not sure where that came from. Sorry to be dense, but I really don’t understand the structure of the forums.

The .org and .com bit on the WordPress websites is important to distinguish because they represent different software. The software at WordPress.com is completely different to the software distributed on WordPress.org.

Oh. Well I’m using WordPress.com, so I guess I’m wrong all the way around. I wondered why when I joined I was asked for a version number. Since everything I’m using is on-line, I couldn’t understand how it could have a version number. Sorry to trouble you.

It’s no trouble for us, thank you for posting

You can simply click on the name of your site. Look at the following image.

Or simply you can go to the “Menus” in your dashboard and add a link to your homepage to that menu.

Thank you, Milad. That solves the problem.

You’re welcome. I’m also interested in your blog and I would like to follow it.

Thanks. Right now, it’s not much. But I will be leaving for the Middle East soon and will be blogging as I travel. If you’re interested, I can tell you more if you want to take this off line [email address removed]
