Cannot find stylesheet in theme

  • I have uploaded a theme to the control panel, and I’ve checked and rechecked to make sure it was done correctly. However, I keep getting a message saying that the theme is broken because the stylesheet cannot be found. The stylesheet IS there. I do not have a nested folder.

    I’m new to this and relatively clueless, but in my research those are the only two things I’ve found to look for. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling (twice). What now?

    TIA!

  • Is the *stylesheet* in a folder below the theme folder? The stylesheet has to be in the top-level of the theme folder. It can’t be in a subfolder, or it won’t be found.

    Also, if your stylesheet doesn’t have the necessary code at the top, WP won’t recognize that it’s there. it *must* be named “style.css” and it *must* have the proper code at the top of it, first thing.

    Thanks! I checked all of those things. It is named style.css, it is in the disneytheme folder (no subfolders), and the coding does match.

    In checking all of this I see that the header image doesn’t display now either, though it did earlier. <sigh>

    @dfiller

    I’m having the same problem. Here’s the top of my stylesheet:

    /*
    Theme Name: Project Rainbow
    Theme URI:
    Description: To be used with the portfolio site of Daniel Filler (Released 2009)
    Author: Daniel Filler
    Author URI: (REMOVED, SITE NOT READY)
    Template: use-this-to-define-a-parent-theme–optional
    Version: 1.0
    .
    General comments/License Statement if any.
    .
    */

    css file is name style.css also. I can activate the theme and it works fine, but it gives me none of this information in the themes screen. It’s also causing it to not accept any of my custom page templates.

    Please help!
