Support » Fixing WordPress » Cannot edit posts posted by others on my WordPress site

  • Hello? I have a problem with wordpress where I can’t access posts going back more than 10 pages in the post list. Also, this selection of posts that I am allowed to edit were all posted by me.

My boss and I just changed our passwords, maybe that has something to do with it. He can’t seem to edit certain posts either.

I search for not-by-me posts and they show up, but in black text instead of blue. When you move the mouse near them, the only option is “View”- meaning, going to the front website, where the video is.
    No editing seems allowed.

There are lots of posts by interns at my website other than me, and I have to be able to change aspects in them. I have searched and searched for a solution to this problem but I have not found one. Especially since it is hard to phrase to a search engine.

I suspect it may have something to do with my boss’s settings, but he doesn’t understand the problem either.

Thank you for any help, or leads for an answer.

  • Apparently all people on my site, even the admin, can only edit their posts. But I can’t have all our passwords, so I am still in need of help.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

Thank you for the suggestions. When I’m at work next I’ll tell my team.
