# Cannot edit posts

 * The post will not open or work? There is a recurring problem with posts not working
   in the new editor, the classic editor or both. 
   Deleting the classic plug solves
   the problem for a while, then the problem starts again when I go back to continue
   editing, or to work on othe posts. I have tried the settings – e.g. not allowing
   users to switch editors, allowing users to switch editors, but still the problem
   persists.

 * What exactly does “not working” mean? Do you see an error message? If so, what
   does it say? Or do you see a blank page? Or are you simply unable to save changes?
 * Also check under Tools > Site Health to see if any issues are listed.

 * Whenever I try to open the post or other draft posts to edit – I get the following
   error message. Its a long term problem – previously it has simply been coming
   up as just a blank page.
 * “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin
   email inbox for instructions. If you continue to have problems, please try the
   [support forums](https://wordpress.org/support/forums/).”

 * The reason for the error should be visible in the error log. You can find it 
   in your hosting area. If necessary, the support of your hosting can help you.
 * Alternatively, you could also enable debugging in WordPress. How to do this is

   also here the support of your hosting can help you if necessary to edit the file
   accordingly.
 * In both cases you should be able to see what the cause is in the logfile.
