    I’m curious if you can check with DreamHost to see if they have disabled any functions on the server? It sounds like they disallow downloads offsite in some way. I’m curious what they say if you’d be willing to update us? I know some hosts have weird differences that make download from the admin impossible.

    Do you have access to your site via FTP? If so you can just connect to the site and download directly from FTP. Alternatively, they likely have a dashboard or cPanel where you can navigate to a file manager on their site, where they likely DO have file downloads enabled.

    Hi Kat,

    Thanks for suggesting to download the backup file through FTP 🙂
    I talked to DreamHost tech support and they assured me that they don’t restrict downloads through the WordPress Dashboard. So although I’m still not exactly sure if it’s a problem with the plugin or with the host (or something else entirely), I’m glad I was able to get my backup in the end.
    Feel free to close this post, as the issue is, technically, ‘resolved’.

    I’ll do that, but I’m still curious what exactly is causing the download to not work. A few other users have had the same issue recently.

    If you are up for a little more troubleshooting, I’d like to keep this open so we can dig a little deeper?
