Cannot download backup

Hello there,

I recently installed BackUpWordPress for a new website that I’m running and unfortunately I am unable to download the backup file.

To give a few more details:
1) I’m trying to backup both the database and the files.
2) On this domain (development-solutions.eu) – I can run a backup no problem, but whenever I try to download it, the plugin redirects me to a non-existing page on my site. This one to be more specific: http://www.development-solutions.eu//wp-content/backupwordpress-bfde4dcdb2-backups/development-solutions-eu-1472040744-complete-2016-08-24-14-13-56.zip?key=b803c4b7fce60103ad8eb92402c3dcd0
3) On another domain (korea-euilo111.com) – I can download the backup file just fine.
4) The only difference between these two domains is that one of them (development-solutions.eu) is hosted with DreamHost, via their DreamPress service and the other one (korea-euilo111.com) is hosted with HostGator.

I’m curious to know if anybody else has encountered this issue and if there is a way to resolve it.

I’m curious if you can check with DreamHost to see if they have disabled any functions on the server? It sounds like they disallow downloads offsite in some way. I’m curious what they say if you’d be willing to update us? I know some hosts have weird differences that make download from the admin impossible.

Do you have access to your site via FTP? If so you can just connect to the site and download directly from FTP. Alternatively, they likely have a dashboard or cPanel where you can navigate to a file manager on their site, where they likely DO have file downloads enabled.

Hi Kat,

Thanks for suggesting to download the backup file through FTP 🙂
I talked to DreamHost tech support and they assured me that they don’t restrict downloads through the WordPress Dashboard. So although I’m still not exactly sure if it’s a problem with the plugin or with the host (or something else entirely), I’m glad I was able to get my backup in the end.
Feel free to close this post, as the issue is, technically, ‘resolved’.

I’ll do that, but I’m still curious what exactly is causing the download to not work. A few other users have had the same issue recently.

If you are up for a little more troubleshooting, I’d like to keep this open so we can dig a little deeper?
