When I attempt to deactivate Collapse-O-Matic (even given that we aren’t using the [expand] shortcode anywhere on the site), the button spacing on my entire site is affected and I have to do a full database restore in order to fix the issue; re-activating collapse-o-matic does not fix the issue.

That portion of the site is using [c_4] shortcode and [button] shortcode in order to display the buttons in a grid, but definitely not [expand], which is all the documentation refers to.

Given that we don’t use this plugin, I would very much like the ability to not have it any longer… But I don’t know if that’s possible given the current implementation.

Ok. It sounds like you might have custom CSS saved under Dashboard > Settings > Collapse-O-Matic > Custom CSS

Active the plugin, copy any CSS that is there to your child-theme’s style.css file.

Let us know if you still have issues, and include a link to your site if we can help further.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like there’s any answer that easy.

The plugin has been continually active as long as I have known, and there is no “Custom Style” code in the box under the Collapse-o-matic settings page.

Is there anywhere else where it might be located?

We are using a modified version of the DICE theme.

theaterleague.com is the mainpage. Specifically, what happened when I disabled Collapse-o-matic was that the buttons on the mainpage changed from being in a 3×4 grid to something less aligned. Each button on a row was “shifted” downwards about half a button-height from the button to the left. The final result looked a bit like this

do you have a dev site where you can disable the plugin and share a link to that?
if not, just disable the plugin, and be sure to clear your browser cache.
or are you using cloudflare or some other CDN?
Basically, there is no reason for this behaviour, as collapse-o-matic is not being used on the page, and no of the css is being referenced by your elements.

Without seeing the issue, we can not help you further.
