# Cannot customize Permalink!

 * I go to “Options > Permalink”
 * Then I choose the following
 * Date and name based
    » [http://www.domainname.com/2006/04/04/sample-post/](http://www.domainname.com/2006/04/04/sample-post/)
 * Then I return to my blog page, when I click on a post the IE shows “Not Found”.
   I cannot go the specific post page.
 * Anyone knows what’s wrong with that? How to deal with the problem.

 * Is mod_rewrite enabled on your server? Do you have a .htaccess file in the root
   of the WP install? Is the .htaccess writable?
    Did you see [Using_Permalinks](http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks)
   in the Codex?
