Cannot create server with DO
-
Just installed this plugin and added my DO credentials. But when I try to create a server it gives a ServerPilotAPI error even though I’m choosing the DO template.
Also, the list of servers and locations are incomplete for DO for some reason.
Thanks.

Also, I did deactivate the ServerPilot module since I’m not using that.
Hi,
Sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with the ‘WP Cloud Server’ plugin. We are actively investigating your problem. The plugin has only recently been added to the WordPress Plugin Directory, and we are aware of some issues that we are in the process of fixing! The next release should fix some of the annoying bugs!!
Thank you for trying our plugin and contacting us.

Hi,
Can I just check your use case? I assume you wanted to create a DO Droplet instantly? I’ve spotted an omission in the DO options. At the moment there are two scenarios for creating Droplets;
1. ‘Connect to ServerPilot’ – This option creates a DO Droplet instantly, instructs ServerPilot the new server exists. ServerPilot installs it’s application and configures WordPress.
2. ‘DigitalOcean VPS Template’ – This is the option that I assume you selected? This creates a template for a DO Droplet, but not an instant Droplet. The template name appears in the dropdown in the Easy Digital Downloads product page. When a customer orders the hosting plan the plugin uses the template to then create a new DO Droplet!
I apologise for the current lack of options! We will add an option to create an instant DO Droplet.
We will also fix the ServerPilot API error showing when disabled, and add in the missing server options.
Thank you.
Gary
Hi:
Yes, I was testing creating an instant droplet directly on DO without going through serverpilot. In fact, the serverpilot module in my tests have been disabled.
Thanks.
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Can I ask a question? Are you wanting WordPress installed when you create the Droplet, or just a Droplet with Ubuntu installed?
At the moment the idea behind the plugin is to always install WordPress. When a Droplet is created a script installs WordPress automatically. The initial intention is that the customer purchasing a plan will enter their login details and domain, and at this point the website is created.
What is your desired use case? Are you selling hosting plans, or wanting to create servers directly for personal/client use?
Sorry for the questions! With the plugin being new we’re still gaining an idea of how people want to use it. There are so many different scenarios that we know are missing.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Gary – might be better to take this discussion off-line since we’re now talking feature/functions and product direction instead of just debugging an issue? If you have a website with a contact form I can drop you a note there – just post the link here. I do have ideas in what I would like to see for a plugin like this…
Thanks.
Good idea! Our contact form is at the link below;

I just sent you a message via that form.
Thanks!
Thanks for the message,
I sent you a reply straightaway via your email. Just wondered if you received it ok?
Thanks.

Hi:
I finally got around to testing this. I can create a DO server now from the dashboard. But setting up a product for EDD – all the drop-downs in the metabox are all empty.
I sent you an email a couple of weeks ago (nov 25th) – not sure if you got it since I didn’t hear back from you. Would love to continue the conversation.
Hi,
Sorry to hear that you’re still having problems! I did get your email from the 25th November, I haven’t replied yet, sorry, a bit hectic getting the plugin update out!
I think with the problem you’re experiencing we need to work out if it’s a bug or a configuration issue!
1. You say in EDD that all drop-downs are empty. Do you mean that literally as in completely empty? If so then that is a bug which I will investigate immediately! Initially with a new download started in EDD the first box, the ‘Module’ drop-down should say ‘No Module Selected’, clicking on it should in your case with just DO selected list ‘DigitalOcean’ as an option. The ‘Server’ drop-down should say ‘No Servers Available’ which will change when the ‘Module’ is selected.
2. If you see the above text but the ‘Servers’ drop-down says ‘Templates’ but nothing else then this is because you need to ‘Add Template’. For DO selling a server through EDD creates a new server based on the ‘Template’ selected.
For now I’ll assume it’s the first in the list, a possible bug!
Thanks.
Gary
Hi:
Yes, they are literally empty. Even after I created a template, they were both empty.
Hi,
I’m going to close this thread for the moment. I believe that the latest release of the plugin has fixed these issues!
If you’re still experiencing problems then please drop me an email or open a new thread and I will be happy to have a closer look.
Thanks.
