 * Hi Tobias,
 * I am migration from WP Table Reloaded to Tablepress on my Mac. When I try to
   create a dump file from within WP TR pluggin options it creates a file that cannot
   be opened. I am getting the message “There is no application set to open the
   document “wp-table-reloaded-export-2013-03-08.dump”.”
 * Is this typical of Mac? I have backed up my entire site as recommended, but I
   was hoping I could also create a simple table backup as well.
 * Thanks!
    Hillary

 * Hi Hillary,
 * thanks for your post!
 * Yes, it is expected that you can’t open a WP-Table Reloaded. The reason is that
   this is a very technical format, and there’s simply no application that understands
   what the contents mean.
    If you wanted to, you could open the file in a text
   editor (like TextWrangler), but everything will just look like garbage. But that’s
   no problem, there’s no real need to deal with the file directly. It’s basically
   just for safe-keeping, in case you want to re-import things into WP-Table Reloaded
   or TablePress. If you want “simple” table backups, i.e. in a format that can
   be read by other applications, I recommend to export the tables to CSV format.
   That can for example be opened by Numbers or Excel. (In WP-Table Reloaded, this
   can be tedious, as you would have to export each table individually. If you migrate
   to TablePress first, you can then export all tables at once, to CSV files that
   are stored in a ZIP archive.)

    Tobias

 * Hi Tobias,
 * Thank you for your quick and clear response! I will do the CSV format export.

 * Hello again Tobias,
 * I have downloaded and activated TablePress to my site. (WPTR is also still active).
   I do not see TablePress it in my WP Dashboard Tools or anywhere on the Dashboard,
   so I can’t find the notification that WP-Table Reloaded is installed and activated;
   therefore I cannot “Import” my tables to TablePress.
 * Sorry, i’m sure there is a simple answer I am just missing!
 * Thanks,
    Hillary

 * Hi Hillary,
 * that’s strange… Not sure what’s going on there.
    Are you maybe using any capability
   or user management plugins, like “Advanced Access Manager” or “User Role Editor”?
   I had it happen once that this caused trouble with the initial installation of
   TablePress.
 * If you want, I can take a direct look at this on your site. For that, could you
   create a temporary admin account for me, and send me an email? My address is
   in the main plugin file “tablepress.php”.
 * Regards,
    Tobias
