Cannot connect website with “Unable to insert blog” | WordPress.org

I have a website that cannot be connected. It gives :

“Unable to insert blog. Please try again or contact support.”

I suspect that this is because I use a non-standard directory layout. WordPress core is located at https://sitedomain.com/wp/core. It used to work but doesn’t anymore.
