• Hi – I see that this is a common problem, although I’m not able to find any answers (that I can understand) in the forums. I’m very new to WordPress so need idiot-proof help. The (test) site is live, and I’d like to test the accessibility from the WP mobile app – as this will eventually be a blog site with multiple contributors. Therefore being able to easily connect with this app is vital. Can anyone please walk me through this?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Access to https://testsite.danielrichards.no/xmlrpc.php is blocked.

Blocking XML-RPC is not an excellent solution for fighting security risks. Instead, it’s akin to selling your car because you don’t want it to be stolen.

Your site’s XML-RPC file is like a communication gateway to your site. The WordPress Mobile Apps and several plugins and services will use that file to communicate with your site. If it’s blocked, different issues will pop up down the road for the same reasons.

If you use any security plugins, please try connecting with those temporarily deactivated. If you don’t use any, or if that doesn’t work, I suggest contacting your hosting provider and asking them to unblock your site’s XML-RPC file. Our recommended hosting providers have found other ways to protect their servers without hindering your site and your ability to use apps and connected plugins/services with your WordPress site.

If they refuse to make any changes, and if you want to use apps and connected plugins/services, I suggest looking for a new host.
