    Hello,

    I have set up everything in Events Manager and appear to have all of the email settings filled out correctly, however I cannot send a test email, and therefore cannot send any emails for the events i created.

    We use gmail and i set the sending method to SMTP, enabled authentication, tried both 587 and 465 for sending ports, entered ‘ssl://smtp.gmail.com:465’ as told (also tried with 587, and combo’s of the two numbers here and in sending ports), and have my correct username and password.

    but when i hit send test email, it says:
    Email not sent. The following From address failed: (my email address)

    does anyone know what else i could possibly do here? please help. thank you!!

    did you try changing sending method e.g. PHP mail function or WP Mail ?

    gmail works well for me. check your gmail settings (under Forwarding and PoP^/IMAP) to make sure you have pop or imap enabled

    IMAP is enabled, POP is not.

    I did try PHP before and it did not work then either, but we want it to come from my email address anyways so want to go through smtp.

    looking again at the erorr, it says ‘The following From address failed: (my email address)’

    what if you e.g. set the From email to a blank value in the same settings section?

    Agelonwl- thank you for the suggestion, but my host is Google so I assume it should work fine?

    Marcus- I did try your suggestion but still received an error message and cannot send.

    is there a support number I could call that they might walk me through the settings? or something? I’m not really sure what else to do here but would really like to use this function to integrate our events with our own website instead of a third party website.

    hi Erica, we can’t help further than this.

    My only other suggestion is to try and set it to WP_Mail and try using another plugin to handle emails such as http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/

    if that doesn’t work either, then consider asking your hosts about the issue.
