Support » Plugin: WP Word Count » Cannot clear word count of trashed page

  • Resolved krisis

I’ve recently deleted a page draft, but the word count for the post is still appearing on the WP Word Count page. It happened to be a very large page, so now it seems to be forever stuck in my top 10!

    I’ve tried:
    – uninstalling and re-installing the plug-in
    – deleted the related information from rows in wp_options
    – deleting the entire plug-in’s rows in wp_options so they would recaculatie
    – reinstating a row for the post in wp_posts with no words in it and editing that post

Despite all that, the same word count still remains! I can’t even figure out where WP Word Count is getting its data from right now, as it hasn’t added any rows back to wp_options.

Is there a known bug with pages placed in the trash? And, what is the best way to completely regenerate all of the WP Word Count data from scratch?

  • To add to this: After deleting the wp_options rows for the plugin and completely uninstalling it, now upon reinstall it’s stuck on its old stats – it won’t generate stats for new pages, and I cannot find anywhere it could possibly be pulling the old ones from!

Any advice from other users is appreciated. The all-in-one summary page style of this Word Count has been really crucial to some behind the scenes goals for my blog, I’d love to get it working again.

The 2.0.0 release should handled trashed posts much better. Please reply to this thread if the update doesn’t solve your problem.

It’s working perfectly now. Thank you so much for this rewritten version! If the upcoming Pro version is reasonably priced, you’ve found your first subscriber!
