• I have a page with the slug feed-2. I want it to just be feed. I’ve searched my pages, posts, tags, categories and sliders to make sure I didn’t already have something else named feed, and I don’t. I’ve also checked my trash and nothing named feed exists there.

Why won’t WordPress let me change my page from feed-2 to feed?

    Thanks!

You won’t be able to, as WordPress has reserved /feed/ for the feed: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Feeds#Finding_Your_Feed_URL

most of the time, when you have the xxxx-2 slug that means somewhere in your database there is a xxxx slug already.

to get rid of it xxxx-2, you need to access your database and delete it USE CAUTION when working with the database. while i don’t know the exact structure of your database tables, it is likely that you will find what you are looking for in wp_posts

normally, you can access your database from within your webhosting account in my PHPADMIN. if you are not sure how to find that area, contact your webhost for guidance.

I have concern that FEED is not something to delete. Perhaps a totally different slug should be used for your page/post.

Right, that won’t work in this case, as the feed slug is reserved by WordPress for feeds.
