    Hi,
My ISP moved my wordpress instance and screwed it up. I had to restore form backup to the new wordpress instance. A lot of setting had to be redone.

The setting for permalink moved from ‘postname’ to ‘month and name’. I have tried to change it back, however, on clicking ‘save changes’ it reverts to ‘month and name’.

I have changed the .htaccesss file permission to 777
I have tried to use ‘custom structure’

    Please advise.

    – Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting and renaming your WordPress .htaccess file. If that works, then try reading Using_Permalinks before setting a custom permalink structure again.

    – Also, check the error logs on your server for a more specific error message. If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.

    Hi,
Thank you for the help. We actually figured out that the ISP had activated memcache and that it was not 100% compatible with the WooTheme I was using. Disabling memcache solved the issue.

    Glad to hear that 🙂
