    Hello,
I am migrating a bi-lingual website from Joomla to WordPress. I have imported all the content of my existing posts, including media files.
I have installed the Media Library Assistant, and, probably, haven’t yet understood how to work with it.
When I open Media Library tag in dashboard, I can see all my media files and their attributes.
The problem I face is I do NOT see them when I open “Add media” button from the Editing screen, from the post. So, basically, I don’t understand how to change the featured image, if it got mixed up, for instance, or attribute a language where it hasn’t been.
From the MEdia Library the pics are showing themselves connected, but I cannot do much else.
    What am I missing?
    Thank you for you assistance,
    Vera

Thanks for your questions and for the details regarding your site.

You don’t say which plugin you are using for the “bi-lingual” support. Are you using WPML, Polylang or some other plugin?

You wrote “When I open Media Library tag in dashboard,“. Do you mean the WordPress Media/Library screen or the MLA Media/Assistant screen?

You can try disabling Media Library Assistant to see if MLA is causing your problem. If the problem still occurs you most likely have some conflict in your “bi-lingual” plugin. If disabling MLA fixes the problem, you can reactivate it and then turn off the “Media Manager/Media Grid Enhancements”. Go to the Settings/Media Library Assistant General tab and scroll down to that section. Uncheck the first two boxes, then scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Save Changes” to record your work. After that, go back to a post/page and try “Add Media…” again.

You gave the example “change the featured image“. The easy way to do that is to click on the Featured Image thumbnail in the lower-right of the Media/Edit Media screen for the post/page. The will pop up the Set Featured Image modal window. Let me know if you have the same problem with that approach.

I hope the above suggestions give you some success. I will leave this topic unresolved until I hear back from you. Any additional information you can provide will let me be more specifically helpful. Thanks for your interest in the plugin.

    David,
    Thank you for responding.
Apologies, I did not realize I have omitted so many important details.
The bilingual plugin I use is Polylang.
I wrote “When I open Media Library tag in dashboard,”. I meant the WordPress Media/Library screen.
I have disabled the plugin, as you suggested, and the problem persists. So I guess it is a problem with the media and not the Assistant, then? After disabling, I open the MEdia library and see all the pictures. I do not see them, when I opens “Add Media” from within a post.
I have done what you suggest with the Featured image before asking here. No way of accessing the Media from within seems to bring the existing images from the library to the posts, accept the images imported AFTER the migration into the WordPress site. No image which existed BEFORE, despite its being see from the Media Library screen.
Could you direct me here? I am quite at a loss.
    Thank you,
    Vera

Thanks for your update with the additional information, which is very helpful. As you wrote, I don’t believe that this problem is related to Media Library Assistant. I am marking this topic “Not Support Question” because MLA does not seem to be the problem.

You wrote that images added to the site after the initial migration from Joomla are behaving well, but you did give details on your migration process. I would guess that the initial migration did not include the extra steps required to produce language-specific translations of the Media Library items in Polylang.

If it is possible to give me temporary access to your site as an Administrator user I would be happy to look around and try to advise you. I understand that may not be possible.

It would also be more efficient to communicate by email so I can send you some additional Polylang utilities. You can send me your contact information using the Contact Us page at the FTJ web site:

    Fair Trade Judaica/Contact Us

Do not post your e-mail address in the forum; personal details in a public forum violates WordPress guidelines. If you have trouble accessing the FTJ site, post a note here with your country of origin and I can temporarily unblock it.

Thank you for your interest in the plugin. I hope we/you can correct the issues with your site and complete your migration.

Thank you for working with me offline and for your confidence in giving me access to your site. I am very happy MLA’s “Quick Translate” feature allowed you to assign language codes to your older Joomla items and get your site working as you wanted.

I am still working on the Chrome browser issue you identified and on the RTL language formatting issues I noticed while working on your site. Thanks again for the opportunity to see MLA in this new (to me) context.

I have investigated the Chrome browser issue and confirmed that it also occurs on standard WordPress screens such as Posts/All Posts and Pages/All Pages. The rollover links are formatted by WordPress and I can find no MLA workaround to fix the problem.

I have reported this issue to WordPress:

List Table Rollover Actions Not Working in Google Chrome

I have just uploaded a new MLA Development Version dated 20151009 that contains a number of changes required to fix RTL formatting issues. values for a subsequent batch of uploads.
You can find step-by-step instructions for using the Development Version in this earlier topic:

    MLA errors when using plugin

If you get a chance to try the Development Version please let me know how it works for you. I will update this topic when the new RTL support goes out in the next official MLA release.

    David,
Thank you. I will try this later this week and get back to you.

I have released MLA version 2.15, which includes the enhancements for Right-to-Left (RTL) language support.

I have also heard back from WordPress with a possible fix for the Chrome browser issue. I expect that to be included in a future WordPress version.

I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have any problems with the new version or further questions regarding the enhancements. Thanks for working with me on these improvements.
