Support » Plugin: WooCommerce » Cannot add or remove items from cart / strange behaviour

Seemingly out of the blue, the Woocommerce cart is not updating correctly anymore. When I add products to the cart, it does not update the cart. Also removing products from the cart, by using red X mark or by putting the amount to zero, does not update the cart.

I have not changed anything (as far I recall) in the last week, but the cart is not working now.

Things I tried, without any success:
-I emptied all transients and customer sessions
    -disabled W3 cache plugin
    -changed to other theme
    -changed perm structure
-disabled “AJAX add to cart buttons on archives” on Catalogus tab
-checked with host if they changed anything on server configuration – they said they didn’t.

I created a local copy of my site – there it did work!

I have another site, on the webspace of the same host, using woocommerce. The cart works just fine there.

    Your help is greatly appreciated!
Try adding a product to your cart and then removing it:

    Many thanks!

  • Another clue:

The problem does not occur when I am logged in. It only happens when I am not logged in – my customers should not log in.

    I found it!!

It was indeed the W3 Cache plugin.
What I did not realize, when deactivating the plugin, the .htaccess file still contained the W3 settings. I believe this is due to a special writeprotection that my host offers.

Anyway, I manually updated the .htaccess and removed all W3 lines.

Then I clear all transients and session from Woocommerce [Woocommerce, System Status, Tools]

And I deleted all cookies from my test browsers.

    Now it works!!

Next challenge is to figure out how to bring back W3 into the game without it disrupting the shopping cart. For now, I will close this thread.
