Support » Plugin: WP Online Store » Cannot activate WP Online Store

  • I’m the site admin for lionsquarter.com. My boss wanted an online store and I thought WordPress Online Store was the best choice. However, after installation I’m having a devil of a time activating it.

I am using WordPress 3.5.1 and the Intro theme from AIT-Themes. My host is iPage.com

The site admin grinds to a halt. The pages take forever to load and I get server timeouts. I cannot configure WPOLS.

Interestingly, the public site continues to work just fine.

I deactivated WPOLS by renaming the plugin folder and WP-admin works just fine, if a bit slow.

I tried deactivating all my security plugins: Bad Behavior, Growmap Ant-Spambot Plugin, Simple Login Lockdown and Simple Trackback Validation, but to no avail.

I tried checking to see if session module was activated but I’m not sure how to do that on iPage.

I deleted the WordPress Online Store, reinstalled, deactivated ALL the other plugins, then clicked “Activate.”

Again, the admin page would not reload–server timeouts, though the site comes up OK.

What, if anything, am I doing wrong?

  • Sometimes the theme affects the function of the WPOLS plugin. This can be for several reasons; the theme tries to control the session information, or the theme uses some form of caching, or perhaps there is a javascript conflict. Most themes are not that complicated and so there is no conflict, but some companies are now bringing out themes which are becoming more and more advanced with have many different in-built features.

The best way to see if a theme is conflicting with your store (after checking all your plugins for conflicts) is to switch the theme back to the default twentytwelve theme and verify the install/function of the store.

If your theme does clash with the store I’m afraid there is no quick fix – each theme could have a completely different issue.
