    Found a fix:

    I had this problem also, it happened when I tried to activate from the same screen when you install from your dashboard.

    The fix for me was to install the plugin, and after I got the message, I went to the plugins page and clicked Activate

    This sounds super cool. Let me dig into why this isn’t working correctly on the first try. I’ll update this thread if I find a solution and deploy a fix.

    I am unable to reproduce this on 5.1 or 5.2, either locally or on a remote server. My best guess until we get more info is that this is a client-side error from the WP javascript.

    If anyone runs into this and can capture network request details and/or any JS console output that would be greatly appreciated.
