• Hi! Try as I might, I cannot get comments to work. Any idea what I am doing wrong? I am v. new to WP.
I go to settings/discussion/ allow people to post/save changes.
In posts I go to Quick edit/ allow comments/update.
In screen options I check comments and discussion/ apply.
    Need I do something else?
    Anythings helps!
    Thanks

  • Hi,

    You are using jetpack plugin.

Maybe you had enabled jetpack comments, but did not setup properly
    https://jetpack.com/support/comments/

The following is the troubleshooting documentation.
    https://jetpack.com/support/comments/troubleshooting-jetpack-comments/

You can disable this module, if not using.

    Thank you

Thanks for replying. Yes I had enabled JP comments. However, not sure what you mean by, not set up properly— How do I do this?

I’m getting info from my stats, which I think is part of jet pack, so something is working.
I don’t think it’s a theme issue. As I said I’m using WP Stock theme. Should I try switching to 2016 just to see?
I don’t have any of the plug-ins listed on the JP trouble shoot page.
Can’t wait to get this issue solved!
Thank-you for your time. Appreciate it.

That’s the suggestion of the troubleshooting doc. It won’t hurt to give it a go, eh?

Thanks for the suggestion. This is great!
    Just tried 2016. No change.

Also after activating JP in my dashboard, I went to wordpress.com and allowed them to authorize. Still no comments.
Do they just not work with these basic themes?
Do I need to purchase something like Genesis?

    Thanks

    Hi,

JetPack plugin is built by WordPress and works with any WordPress default theme.

If you are sure that your settings are correct.
You can try disabling other third party plugins, to try and find out if any of them is causing this issue.

    Thank you.

Thank you for your help. The only 3rd party plugin I have is contact form 7.
I’ll disable it and see what happens.
    Cheers,
    Hugh
