Cannot Activate

    Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

    Fatal error: Can’t use method return value in write context in /public_html/wp-content/plugins/business-directory-plugin/includes/fields/class-fieldtypes-textarea.php on line 424

    Currently running WP 5.0.1. I disabled all plugins and tried with Twenty Nineteen theme.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi @ptaubman,

    Sorry that you ran into issues here!

    That error specifically happens when you’re on an unsupported version of PHP. BD supports PHP 5.6 and higher–your hosting company is likely running something around 5.3, which is no longer supported due to lack of security patches and general risk of running older, unmaintained software. Soon, we’ll be moving up to PHP 7.x as the minimum version just like WP is.

    I would contact your hosting company and ask them to upgrade you to PHP 7.x (whatever they support). This will correct the problem.
