I keep receiving emails from wp.com to upgrade my free wp.com site athomewithrebeckadotcom. see below. I can’t access the account because my email is no longer valid so resetting password does not work. Can I purchase my domain name from wp.org or do I need to purchase from wp.com?

I don’t use the free wp site anymore because I have the athomewithrebecka.com site. Do I need to delete the account once I get back into the admin or should I leave it open? Having both accounts seems to cause confusion every time I have to renew my subscription for my domain name. Please help!

  • Anything related to WordPress.com, is dealt with on WordPress.com. If your domain is expiring for you WordPress.com account, you can either renew it or not. You can not purchase a domain from WordPress.org. WordPress.org is for self-hosted installs of WordPress. It’s up to you whether to delete your account.

Do you have a self-hosted install of WordPress. (Not hosted on WordPress.com)?

Your domain name is still registered with WordPress.com, so you will need to contact them via http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ for help with this.

I was able finally to login into my account however, I can’t access the dashboard because it says I don’t have a blog! UGH!

I need a technical person to help me to access my dashboard and move the domain name to HostGator. I have a wp.org site athomewithrebecka.com, so not sure how that effects the cancellation of wpfree account?

If you cannot manage this yourself, you may want to consider hiring someone. We do not have access to your site and the support here does not extend to that level of one-to-one support.

Ok, will look into a tech hire. ty

Hiring a tech won’t help you access your WordPress.com blog’s Dashboard or wherever the domain is registered at WordPress.com. You need to contact WordPress.com: http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

I just started working with a local non-profit, Jenkintown Food Cupboard, who recently let their domain name expire (jenkintownfoodcupboard.org) and we are unable to log in to the WP dashboard. The site is hosted by HelioHost who does not backup any data. Today we registered the names jenkintownfoodcupboard.net and jenkintownfoodpantry.org through NameCheap.com.
I would very much appreciate any suggestions you might have to access our WordPress site. Thank you!
