I am not 100% sure if I should post this here or more in a general forum, however the below only works when I deactivate woocommerce. If Woocommerce is active I cannot achieve below.

When I login it redirects to the home page, but the admin bar displays at the top. This includes the dashboard symbol and also my profile, but I cannot access the admin side. When I type /wp-admin it says I am not allowed to access this area.

I have activated twentytwenty theme, no joy, re-uploaded fresh version of the theme I use and wordpress, but no joy. I have also reset the .htaccess file but still no success.

I have checked the site url and wordpress url and within database and all correct. Unsure how to proceed any help will be gratefully received.

  • Hi @timmer81. I’d recommend conflict testing.

These are the steps you should take:

    1. Back up your site. Many hosting providers offer a way to do this, and there are plugins such as WP Database Backup that offer this functionality if backing up your database through your host is not an option.
    2. Update all your plugins and your theme to their latest versions and see if the problem fixes itself.
    3. Set your theme to Twenty Twenty.
    4. Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce.
    6. Repeat the action that is causing the problem.

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which one is causing the problem, reactivate them one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict.

Thank you @apmwebdev I have concluded it was a corrupt database after an update of a plugin.

I have installed a backup of the db and it works as it should now.

    Thanks again for your recommendations.

Great, I’m glad you were able to figure it out @timmer81! Don’t hesitate to reach out again if you have any further questions!
