• Hello,
I upgraded to the latest version of WP and now receive a 404 error and cannot login to the admin page. I cannot access the dashboard either.
I cleared my cache and still, no results. (Yes, I am using the twentyeleven theme for a class I am taking on WP.)

I have no access to any files either, as my website is hosted through godaddy, where wp is installed, but not switched over to it.

I am at a loss as to how to resolve this issue. Do I need to uninstall WP and re-download it, thus losing all my pages/posts website?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Lisa

Also, I don’t have any plugins installed.

I am new to WP and the codex and trying to figure out everything. I don’t know PHP either.

    Try:
    – re-uploading a fresh, unpacked, copy of the Twenty Eleven folder to wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.
    http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/twentyeleven

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

Ok. I will try this. thanks.

Also, why are so many people having problems with this upgrade? It’s all over the tech media. Isn’t the onus on WP to resolve the bugs?

There are no bugs. These are site specific problems most commonly due to bad themes and/or plugins.

Do I need to uninstall WP and re-download it, thus losing all my pages/posts website?

You won’t lose your pages and posts by removing and re-uploading the files. You’ll only lose your site if you lose the database.
