Support » Plugin: Beautiful taxonomy filters » Can you make a guide for beginners?

  • Hi, I appreciate you developing this, though I have no idea how to use it. I’m reading the help section which is very brief and takes a lot for granted..

My need: provide a dropdown filter menu to users in the middle of a page, to display posts by geography (e.g. posts about Africa vs Asia). Pretty simple I’d assume. I was thinking of using tags or categories as taxonomies, but potentially there’s a better way I don’t know about (e.g. how do I create a taxonomy).

Unfortunately upon installing the plugin, nothing changes in my wordpress panel. Nothing in my composer or in my pages. The settings page asks me to enable it for 3 posts types I didn’t set up (testimonials, client, portfolio etc..), and I have no idea how to pick up categories from here.

Furthermore, your FAQ are not helping me.. maybe my ignorance in php? Your guide goes straight into functions but there’s no mention on where to put them and not even a single walkthrough example. I find it frustrating..

Update – I suspect this doesn’t work with latest version of wordpress, I’m also inserting the functions and getting this error:

“Your PHP code changes were rolled back due to an error on line 47 of file wp-content/themes/kleo-child/functions.php. Please fix and try saving again.

    syntax error, unexpected ”modify_categories_dropdown’’ (T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE)”

All in all, I found this to have done nothing to my wordpress installation and I’m afraid I have to remove it if there’s no support / guide
