Hi @hopskip
The box you’re after is already on your cart page. When I added one of your books to the cart, the coupon field showed up under the product list with an apply coupon button. The input is a bit narrow on your site, so the placeholder reads “Coupon co”, which makes it easy to miss.
If the VIP code gives customers a discount, that field is the place for it. Can you please go to Marketing > Coupons > Add coupon, set the coupon code to whatever you want the VIP code to be, and pick the discount type and amount? Customers then type that code into the cart box. It applies on the spot.
Doc: https://woocommerce.com/document/coupon-management/
For a code that does something other than a discount, like access to content or a membership, the cart doesn’t handle that on its own, and it would take an extension or custom work.
Can you please share what the code should do for the customer, and I’ll point you in the right direction?
Hi,
Appreciate the reply. Actually, I need a 2nd box for marketing to know who brought in that customer/sale. I wish to give them a VIP Code they can give out to keep track of commissions.
Hey there!
Oh I see! This sounds more like a development topic in that case. Iβm going to leave it open for a bit to see if anyone is able to chime in to help you out.
I can also recommend the Woo Developer Resources Portal for resources on developing for WooCommerce.
If you’d prefer to have this built for you rather than code it yourself, Codeable is a great option for hiring a vetted WooCommerce developer.
You can also visit the WooCommerce Facebook group or the #developers channel of the Woo Community Slack.
We’re lucky to have a great community of open-source developers for Woo, and many of our developers hang out there, as well. π
Thanks for the info, altho was hoping for a simple plugin solution.
Hi @hopskip, given your goal, you can actually use the existing coupon field for this.
WooCommerce accepts coupon codes with hyphens, so you can create individual codes per affiliate or partner by adding a hyphen after your base coupon name. For example, if your coupon is off10, you could set up:
off10-seth
off10-jane
off10-mike
Each one can carry the same discount, but since they’re separate coupons in WooCommerce, you’ll be able to see exactly which one was used on each order, making it easy to track who referred the customer.
If you do need a completely separate, dedicated input box in the cart (beyond the coupon field), that would require custom development or a affiliate/referral plugin to handle it properly.
I hope this helps! π
Thanks for that Great Idea! Who wouldn’t thunk? Appreciate it. π
