Can WP cope with a high traffic community site?
I know WP was originally made as a blogging system but I want to create something similar to a dating site (not a dating site though) with all the usual features such as user profiles, search by location and criteria, IM, group events etc. Now, Im hopeless at the tech side of things but Ive been doing some research and am getting conflicting advice. From what I can gather, I need plenty of “computation power”, (whatever that means) because a large community site will have a lot of data. So I know about scaled hosting, dedicated servers etc, but do you think WP can do a good job of a high traffic community site? Or would I be better off using Drupal or Joomla (again, not sure what they are, apart from CMS’s).
