 * I am considering migrating from MediaWiki to WordPress, largely due to ease-of-
use and support issues. But I want to provide users with the same encyclopedic
   breadth of content.
 * Can WordPress support a knowledge base beyond a plugin providing a large search
box and a focus on customers, marketing or a developer FAQ? (I’m looking at Technopedia
or Encyclopedia Britannica. Both seem to be custom-designed, not using a CMS.
Is it possible to operate a true knowledgebase without shoehorning WordPress?
 * Thanks. (And before someone suggests it, this is not an anti-WordPress troll,
   but a serious question.)

 * There is no MediaWiki import, but there are a number of plugins that will add
   wiki functionality.
 * These are all free, so I recommend narrowing down a list to try, then just trying
   them out: [https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/wiki/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/wiki/)

 * Thanks for the comment. After reviewing what’s available, I believe MediaWiki(
for the moment) has the features I need built into the software, rather than
through plugins (semantics, cite, toc, etc.). For those considering the same
question, I found useful (but dated-2015) post on the subject: [https://blogs.pjjk.net/phil/wordpress-as-a-semantic-web-platform/](https://blogs.pjjk.net/phil/wordpress-as-a-semantic-web-platform/).
The page discusses how to include some features – semantic content types, more
   descriptive tagging, etc.
