Can WordPress do this? Or – Blogging for thousands

  • Oceanwatcher

I am setting up a new site and would really like to offer registered members the possibility to put a blog on the site. So I am looking for a system that can handle big amounts of users.
The site is going to use Mambo as its CMS and I would prefer that it would be possible to integrate the two. At least the userdatabases, but it would also be nice to be able to put selected blogentries on the frontpage of the site when I feel there are some that is generally interesting.
I am searching around the web for bloggingsoftware, but to be honest, I am getting a little lost ….
Obviously, with a lot of bloggers, you need a good adminsystem. You also need control over how much space each blogger is allowed to use. And it is nice if bloggers can use all tools that has become common lately.
I am really hoping you can tell me if WordPress is the way to go. And if not, do you have any suggestions to where I should look? It does not have to be GPL software. I do not mind paying for the software. But I do not have tons of money to put in it. 🙂

I’d take a look at WordPress mu. There’s not a whole lot in the official section but I guess you could contact Donncha for more info.
