  • Something like this you mean?

There’s pros and cons for such a plugin. When something goes wrong, you have no idea where in the process and what. Or the plugin breaks you keeps your site in maintenance mode (just see the threads about that). The pro is, is that’s it’s a quick job that even creates backups in the process.

    Hi Gangleri,

From the list of feedbacks, I see a lot of problems which keeps it away from me, but anyway, thanks for the advice!

I’ve used it so far without problems.

Just find a host that offers Fantastico. I’ve used the automatic update many times without a hitch.

As a rule, I recommend against automatic updates of the software, in all flavors. Do it yourself. It’s easy. Just backup the database and the site, upload all the new files, go to the admin screen. If you need to update the database, it will tell you so at the admin screen. Easy. There really is nothing to it once you know how to do it.

    I use SVN for upgrade.
