Can we change the date picker so it’s year only, or even just a text box? | WordPress.org

The “Date” field requires us to use a date picker to choose the month, day, and year of the date. Instead, I just want to choose “1999” or something. I have it set to display the year only, but I still have to choose an artificial day to make the year appear.
Can I revise this so I only have to pick a year, or even make it just a text box?

Sorry, no, it is not possible to change this to a plain text field. At the database level, this must be a valid date.

Perhaps, it is best to add a custom text field? Would that meet your needs? Here’s a link to a tutorial which explains how to add this field:
