One client site has too many image files inside one of it’s media folders (2018/10). Making the site really hard to backup and restore/migrate.

I was thinking to move half of the images in that folder to like 2018/09 and 2018/11 which are less crowded.

Can your plugin do that? And ideally without breaking any of the link connections where the images are used on the site, of course.

Thanks for all that you’ve given, David!
PS: I live in SoCal as well. Was in Torrance for a good 3-4 years.

Thanks for your questions and your kind words about MLA and its support.

I regret that MLA does not have any features for altering the files associated with Media Library items, renaming them or moving them from one location to another. That was one of my early design decisions and I am still wary of messing with the files in any way. At this time I have no plans to revisit my decision and add such features to the plugin.

I know of other plugins that allow renaming media files, but I do not know of any that support moving a file from one location to another.

The “media date” is actually a database value, and MLA does support changing it. That won’t help you with your real task, though.

I am marking this topic resolved simply because your question has been answered. I regret the news is not better but I wish you the best of luck in finding a solution. If you do, please share it here so others can benefit. Thanks for your interest in the plugin.

PS: I am actually up in NorCal, in the SF bay area.
